Fairyland - Of Wars in Osyrhia ~ Review~

And So Came The Storm - beautiful intro, progressing into epic lyrics and high speed rhythm. Reminds me of Carmina Burana.

Ride With The Sun - fast pace, melodic keyboards and catchy chorus, this song sets the scene for the rest of the album.

Doryan The Enlightened - a cinematographic intro that wouldn't be out of place in the 'Lord of The Rings' score. A more operatic tune, where Elisa Martin (ex Dark Moor) proves herself the perfect choice for the job.

The Storyteller - starts off with a very memorable keyboards, and then comes the vocals and symphonic effects, very epic. Possibly the most memorable track of the album.

Fight For Your King - another song where Philippe Giordana and company do "exactly what it says on the tin" (ie, typical symphonic/power metal tune) Don't play it too loud or your mum will be humming it for weeks!

On The Path To Fury - the intro begins with a haunting voice, followed by the choir and fast paced melody. Throw in some great guitar solos and you have a really good tune.

Rebirth - this song is a little slower than the rest, but still dramatic. Haunting flutes and strings in the background give a more symphonic feel, and superb vocals.

The Fellowship - keeping in line with the standard set so far, but there's no increment in quality or variety. A little monotonous.

A Dark Omen - fast paced start and powerful vocals. One of the best tracks on this album, a classic tune, again Fairyland (I refuse to comment on the band name) delivers a great piece with stunning keyboards and guitar riffs.

The Army Of The White Mountain - a gentle medieval type intro serves as a start to this instrumental which together with the intro in "Doryan The Enlightened" could easily make their way into the Lord Of The Rings soundtrack.
Philippe Giordana shows his talentsuperbly, someone in Hollywood give this man a job!

Of Wars In Osyrhia - the grand finalé, with melodies and chorous to die for. Capable of inspiring a 95 year old to rise up from his deathbed and jump on the first available white horse decapitating Orcs on his way to personally overlook Sauron's dead.

All in all, Of Wars in Osyrhia is an excellent debut album from Philippe Giordana and sous muchachos. The addition of talented vocalist Elisa Martin - just check out Dark Moor for proof - was a stroke of genius on the part of Giordana, but it didn't last to the second album which we will be reviewing soon.

We don't know about you but thats how we like our Epic/Symphonic Power Metal in Confessions of a Vagabond. Just a bit of advice, don't wear the t-shirt in English speaking countries!!
